Product Format FAQ

Many of the titles published by Geography Matters have three different purchasing options. Select the option that you desire from the "Select Format" drop down menu on the product detail page. The three options are:

Paperback or Printed Version: This is the traditional "book" version. All of our books are professionally printed and bound for your convenience. When you order the printed version, the item will be shipped to you and incur a shipping and handling charge. If you like having a physical book, or have a slow internet connection, this would be the best choice for you to purchase.

Digital Download: This is a digital file that will be available for immediate download after your order is placed. The file will be in PDF format, and will require you to use the free program Adobe Reader to access. (Most computers already have Adobe Reader installed.) Because this file is transferred digitally, you will not pay any shipping costs. You will also avoid processing and shipping times, enabling you to jump right in to the book's content. Buy today, start today! You can choose to print the pages that you need or simply read them right from your computer screen. Digital downloads are environmentally friendly! They also save space on your bookshelf while taking up very little room on your computer's hard drive. The digital download also comes with our Lifetime Product Update Guarantee, which entitles you to an updated digital file when product changes and improvements are made.

Paperback Plus Digital Download: Our best deal! Receive the physical book and digital download for only $5 more than the cost of the physical book alone. This gives you the convenience of owning the physical book, plus the added benefit of no wait time and ability to print pages from the digital download.


Select editions of our books, including the Munford series, are available for the Kindle, iPad, and Nook. Here are some common questions we receive regarding our product formats:



How do I download my digital file?



As soon as your credit card is approved, your browser will be redirected to our downloading page. Simply click on "Download Now"� and your digital book will automatically start to download to your desktop. A link to this same download page will also be in the invoice that you will receive in your email. 



What happens if I have trouble downloading my digital book?

What happens if I lose my digital file?

Log into your account on our website. Click on the "Downloads" tab. Here you will find a list of all digital products you have purchased from us. You can download the most recent version of the product from this list.

What program do I need to read the digital file?



Our digital books can be read with Adobe Reader. If you don't have Adobe Reader, you can download it for free at www.adobe.com. Downloading Adobe Reader is easy and will only take a few minutes. You must be using Adobe Reader 5.0 or higher. How long will it take my digital file to download?

This depends on a number of factors, including the size of the specific file and the speed of your internet connection. All of our files are highly optimized to allow you to download them at the maximum speed possible. Ideally, it should take just a few minutes, but older internet connections may take longer.

What do the icons mean on the product image?

For ease of use, we have designed each product with a unique identifier image. The paperback version of the book is simply the book cover. The digital download version has an arrow icon in the lower lefthand corner of the book. The paperback plus digital download has the same arrow icon in the lower lefthand corner, but with a plus sign image inside the arrow. As you select the different formats from the product detail page, the image should adjust to represent your newly chosen format.

Are all products in the GeoMatters store available in a digital edition?

Unfortunately, no. Because we stock titles from multiple vendors, not every book we carry is available digitally. Also, some GeoMatters titles, such as the Trail Guide to Learning series are not available in digital format. We appreciate your understanding on this issue.

What about the activity CD-Rom that comes with the physical book?

Some of our books, such as Galloping the Globe, come with a CD-ROM of printable activities for your convenience. Rest assured that you receive these same files when you download the digital version!

What is the Lifetime Product Update Guarantee?

When you purchase the digital download version of one of our books, you will receive lifetime product updates. While we strive to produce high-quality, error-free products, like all publishers we are sometimes alerted to minor errors in the printed copies of our books. We are able to update these errors much more quickly in the digital edition. The updates take longer to show up in printed copies because we must first deplete the inventory we have in stock. If you purchase the digital edition of the book, you can feel confident that you receiving the most up-to-date version available. Also, when major updates are made to a book, you can simply log back into your account to download the new version.
